Which mountain is BEST for you?

College Ski Trips are sometimes hard to plan when you have a group of people with varying abilities, ski vs. boarders, price, and if people in your group are looking for nightlife & some organized parties.

While this list isn’t exhaustive, it is a decent place to start when you are in the planning phases of which college ski package to select. One of the great things about all of our mountains is that you can both ski & board at all of our trips – but the point is, if your group is all ski with no boarders, that will make a difference. If your group is all “never ever boarded” but want to learn, this list will help, OR if you want to dabble on the mountain & party your butt off at night – well, we’ve got a trip for that too.

College Ski Packages.com wants to help lend you some advice from our experience (as well as what our past travelers have said) about each destination for Winter Break Ski.

So, email this page to all your friend that are interested in maybe going on the trip with you, and ask them what they came up with for answers. Email results around in chain, or use your Facebook group to compare answers. This page will assist in picking the best possible college ski mountains.

Step One :
What type of trip are you seeking:

Party Trip or Hardcore Ski/Boarders “First Tracks” ?

Party Trips     “First Tracks” Hardcore Ski/Board Trips
Winter Park/Mary Jane   Aspen/Snomass/Ajax/Highlands/Buttermilk
Telluride      Crested Butte
Copper Mountain Breckenridge

Write down what type of trip you are seeking, Party or First Tracks and note the applicable mountain.

Step Two:
Are you a skier or a snowboarder?

                                Skiers                                    Snowboarders
                                Ajax                                       Buttermilk
                                Snowmass                          Snowmass
                                Aspen Highlands              Breckenridge
                                Vail                                         Winter Park/Mary Jane
                                Keystone                             Crested Butte
                                Beaver Creek                     Telluride
                                Arapahoe Basin                                Copper Mountain
                                Telluride
                                Crested Butte

Write Down your top (2) choices and note the applicable mountains.!

Step Three:
What is your ski/board ability?

Never-Ever Skied or Boarded
means you need a lesson, help from your friends, or are strictly bunny-hillin’ it

Ski / Board Green
means you can go down the hill, snow plow /skid on your ass, wipe out a bunch, but are learning. Turns are still a bit of a challenge as is stopping sometimes. Most first timers end up on Greens by the end of the first day with a lesson.

Ski / Board Blue
means you can go down fairly easy hills with ease, can turn comfortably albeit not like a pro, and stopping is not a problem. A few moguls (bumps) are ok, as well as a tad steeper runs. You might be a good boarder or skier but are a mouse and are scared of Blacks because black means evil, darkness, death! J

Ski/Board Black
indicates you are a novice expert skier or boarder. You can hit bumps, steep runs, icy runs, trees, some powder, might dabble in the half pipe or hit some rails, and overall bomb runs from time to time. Nothing too much intimidates you.

Double Black / Exxtreme Boarders
Ok, stop braggin’ foo!

If you see an asterisk *** this means INCREDIBLE conditions for your ability level

Never-Ever Skied or Boarded
Never Skied                       Never Boarded

Ski Green                       Snowboard Green
Beaver Creek***              Buttermilk
Snowmass                       Winter Park***
Crested Butte
Buttermilk

Ski Blue                                Board Blue
Crested Butte                  Crested Butte ***
Winter Park                      Winter Park
Telluride ***                    Copper Mountain ***
Copper Mountain
Vail ***

Ski Black                              Bad Ass Terrain Parks – Board
Aspen Highlands ***     Buttermilk (home to the X Games) ***
                Ajax                                       Breckenridge
                Arapahoe Basin
                Keystone
                Vail***

                Ski Double Blacks            Exxxtreme Boarding
                Aspen Highlands***      Telluride

                Sick Bumps for Ski
Arapahoe Basin*** (note: Pallavicini is wicked, long, and sick!)

                Backcountry Ski
                Aspen Highlands
                Arapahoe Basin (Montezuma Bowl)

Write down a couple of the ability mountains based on your group

Now, look at your results.

Email this around to your group going, or post it up on your Facebook group to compare results. You might notice that people had “heard” some destination was incredible, when in fact that person giving the advice was a double black skier, and your whole group has never ever skied – that might be some crappy advice.

This information is still (of course!) our somewhat subjective opinion on ski trip for college students, and no, we don’t need the haters to email us their opinions of course.
